It is estimated that between 250,000 and 500,000 cars may have been flood-damaged after hurricane Katrina. What happens to these cars? The insurance company "totals" them, and then they get auctioned off (normally for parts only). Some dealers, however, may try to pass off these cars without disclosing their watery past.
