Don't expect a lot of compassion from the airlines if a loved one dies and you have to travel on a moment's notice. Many carriers are cutting the discounts they offer to the bereaved. And if you think you can use frequent flier miles at the last minute, some airlines are imposing up to a $100 fee for withdrawals less than seven days before travel.
